When placing the lock set It is important to think carefully about where you will place the lock for the sliding door.
Are you going to lock the left or at the right side of the sliding door? (see photo 1)
Why is this important?
The frame of the window on the inside of the sliding door can collide with the installed lock when the sliding door is opened.
It is best to test this before you start drilling holes!
How do you proceed?
If you open the window in the sliding door completely, you can hold the lock in place by hand and check that the lock is not touched anywhere when opening or closing the sliding door. If this works, the lock can be placed at the top left.
Once you have determined the correct location, it is useful to secure the lock in place with double-sided tape before drilling.
Once the lock is installed, never leave the key in the lock.
If you were to open the sliding door with the key still in the lock, damage could occur to the door or the lock.
The key can also break off. (see photo 2).
What if the left doesn't work?
If you notice that you cannot place the lock on the left side of the sliding door, you can place the lock at the bottom on the right side.

Here you must be careful not to place the lock too high, because then the lock (in a non-locked position) can prevent the passenger door from opening.
So here too, it is best to check first before you start drilling the holes.
And finally?
After drilling the holes for the locks on the rear and sliding doors, treat these holes to prevent rust formation.
Before tightening the screws, it is also advisable to apply a little bit of sealant between the lock and the bodywork, before finally tightening the screws. This way you can be sure that the space between the bodywork and the lock is sealed.
After installing these locks, it is advisable to seal the top between the lock and the bodywork.
