When installing the lock set, it is important to think carefully about where you will place the lock for the sliding door.
Are you going to position the lock on the left or on the right of the sliding door? (see photograph 1)
Why is this important?
The frame of the window on the inside of the sliding door may collide with the fitted lock when the sliding door is opened.
It is best to test this before drilling any holes!
How do you proceed?
If you open the window in the sliding door completely, you can hold the lock in place with your hand and check that the lock does not hit anywhere when opening or closing the sliding door. If this works, the lock can be placed in the top left-hand corner.
Once you have determined the correct place, it is a good idea to stick the lock in place with double-sided tape before drilling.
Once the lock is fitted, never leave the key in the lock.
If you open the sliding door with the key still in the lock, damage may occur to the door or the lock.
The key may also break off. (See photo 2).
What if it doesn't work on the left?
If you find that you cannot position the lock on the left-hand side of the sliding door, you can position the lock at the bottom on the right-hand side.

Here you have to be careful not to place the lock too high, because then the lock (in non-locking position) can obstruct the passenger's door to open.
Here too, it is best to check before you start drilling the holes.
And to "finish"?
After drilling the holes for the locks on the rear and sliding doors, treat these holes against rust.
Before tightening the screws, it is also advisable to apply a little sealant between the lock and the body. In this way you can be sure that the space between the body and the lock is sealed.
After installing these locks, it is advisable to seal the top edge between the lock and the bodywork.
