De Van ‘n Bike is considered a device: “bicycle carrier”: system only provided for a bicycle carrier. (normal use)
These devices are not subject to regulation R55 (legislation on towing devices). The inspection of this device is carried out following the first full inspection of the vehicle, after the device has been installed.
- The confirmation of the system to the vehicle will be checked
- the presence of the identification plate.
Any other control of this type of system is unnecessary.
The comment B.089/2/4: “device only accepted as a bicycle carrier may not tow a trailer” must be stated on the inspection certificate.
No identification plate referring to UNECE R55 (legislation on towing devices) may be attached and the Van 'n Bike's coupling must not be able to be used to tow a trailer.
