We sometimes receive reports of condensation in the lamps of the Van ‘n Bike carrying system is in place.
The manufacturer JOKON was asked about this and told us the following:
Depending on the design of the lamps, it can happen that the lenses of clear glass lamps become slightly foggy or that drops form in the lamp. This happens after a long period of damp and/or cold weather. This is a normal process for which there are several explanations.
Certain types of lamps are not fully sealed or sealed for this reason.
High and low temperatures would cause very large pressure differences between the lamp and its surroundings. This in turn could cause new problems such as cracking etc.
That is why many of the JOKON lamp sets are equipped with ventilation openings or pressure compensation membranes.
When the lights are switched off after use and the whole thing cools down, the air contracts, allowing cool and moist air from outside to flow in.
This causes condensation in the lamp, just as it happens on a cold window.
The condensation usually evaporates after a short time and then escapes from the lamp when it is switched on again or during a ride in dry weather.
The JOKON lamps are specially treated so that they are protected against light condensation deposits.
However, if larger water accumulations or larger individual water droplets are visible, the lamp should be checked for damage and/or leakage points.
