You just got a Bialetti Mocha Express Have you brought one into your home, or are you planning to purchase one?
Great idea! With the right “espresso coffee” (preferably finely ground) you can make a delicious cup of coffee with Italian allure!
What do we need to do before we start using our Bialetti Moka Express?
Check that the espresso maker is complete with the valve, funnel, washer and filter plate.
Clean thoroughly with water.
Then make 3 cups of coffee, which you are not allowed to drink.
How do we make our first espresso cup?
- Fill the heating element (bottom part) with cold water up to the safety valve.
- Place the funnel filter in the heating element.
- Fill the funnel filter with ground coffee, without pressing it, and make sure that no coffee residues are left on the edge.
- Turn the collection cup (top part) onto the heating element
- Close it with force, but without exaggerating, without using the handle for this.
- Place the Espresso Maker on a heat source.
- With a gas stove, make sure that the flame does not extend beyond the heating element.
- For electric or vitroceramic stoves, the maximum intensity must not be used.
- Once the collection cup is filled with coffee, you can remove the Espresso Maker from the heat source.
How to clean after use?
- First wait until the espresso maker has cooled down.
- Clean after each use with lukewarm water. (not dishwasher safe!)
- Do not use cleaning agents and/or abrasive materials
- Do not close the Espresso Maker completely when storing it (prevents unpleasant odors)
- When emptying the hopper, do not knock it against anything to prevent deformation.
Anti-limescale treatment?
- Fill the heating element with water up to the valve
- Add 3 tablespoons of vinegar or citric acid
- Turn the collection cup, with empty coffee filter, onto the heating element
- Place on the stove, as you would make coffee.
- Discard the resulting solution.
- Now repeat the procedure for first use. (3 x making coffee)
With proper care, your Espresso Maker will last a lifetime!
It is recommended to replace the sealing ring once a year.
